Elle Rene
Elle Rene (Giselle Walker) is a painter, illustrator and writer, born and raised in Barbados. She has a focus on portraiture and in March 2024, opened her first solo exhibition, ‘Insight’, at the Queen’s Park Gallery. This exhibition was a great success and ran from March 22nd to April 24th, 2024, featuring a variety of portraits exploring the vivid and fantastical nature of people. She loves exploring unusual colour and shape combinations to create interesting compositions that play into the beauty of the human form.
With the success of her first exhibition, she is excited to continue to create and share more of her explorations in the future. She works in both acrylic and oil paint in a variety of sizes, with her largest pieces currently measuring 72” x 48” (6ft x 4ft). In addition to her skill in painting, she has curated several exhibitions in association with the Barbados Photographic Society, Artists Alliance Barbados and the National Cultural Foundation. She loves the opportunity to meet with other creatives and hopes to continue to curate exhibitions and to aid artists in the future.
At present, she is pursuing her Master’s Degree in Curating at Goldsmiths University of London and is seeking to use the opportunity to showcase work beyond Barbados.
